DENVER — After four years in business, a Highland bike shop is ending its ride.
Framework Cycles, located at 3655 Navajo St., is closing on Nov. 22. The bike shop sells e-bikes, gravel, road, commuter and other bikes, in addition to parts and accessories. The business also conducts service and repair work, while also hosting classes for middle schoolers attending Embark Education. The students used the bike shop as well as Pinwheel Coffee shop next door as their classrooms and are there five days a week.
The nonprofit Great Work Inc. owns Embark Education, Framework Cycles and Pinwheel Coffee. The bike shop opened in September 2019. Joe Reinis, director of enterprises for the nonprofit, said that the pandemic in 2020 helped increase revenue for the shop, as more and more people wanted to get outside on bikes. However, it was also a confusing time to be a brand-new bike shop, considering the upheaval in the supply chain and how tricky it was to get new bike parts.
